Situation:

A customer is building an experimental line for personal products and needs tension transducers that measure from .25 lb. to 10 lb. of tension.

Problem:

In addition to the wide tension range requirement, the transducers will be placed in a severe environment subject to water spray and 200 degree F temperature.

Solution:

CMC provided two 10 lb. MWF Ultra Slim Cell Transducers and two Ultra Din Rail Amplifiers.

Result:

The Ultra Slim Cell provides washdown duty and contains a sealed M12 connector. The Ultra Line also gives the 40:1 tension range and superior temperature compensation that they require. The Ultra Slim Cell's performance is outstanding under these extreme operating conditions.

Customer's Comments:

"We calibrate the Slim Cell at room temperature and operate up to 200 deg. F. The Ultra Slim Cell with its sealed connector and cable eliminates the problem of water entering the transducer through the connector. In combination with the Ultra Amplifier we found that the signal output was stable even over our huge temperature range due to improved temperature compensation. It meets all these conditions and still provides us the best tension range of any transducer that we applied."
