There are thousands of plastic injection molding machines that have been operating for decades. The control used for the machine consists of many electromechanical components that if they are not yet obsolete soon will be. Typically the heat ranges are set by individual temperature controllers that offer no coordination between zones. Based on their experience, there can be much variation between operators on how a machine is set up, tremendously impacting the quality of the product.
The FALCON (Soft PLC) offers the capability to integrate the machine set up, control, and heat zone control into one location. The FALCON can then do recipes to ensure the machine is set up consistently regardless of the operator running the machine. In addition the communication capability enables production to be sent to a supervisory business computer providing more timely and accurate information than paper reports.
