NEW Slitting Line Installation - Caliburnia Steel & Tube (CST), a Macsteel Service Centers USA facility in City of Industy, CA, purchased a Slitting Line from Braner USA to increase their product offering and production capacity.
THE PROCESS:
Slitting Line - This process is the continuous slitting of rolling coil by rotary head knives andthen recoiling to narrower strips.
CLEVELAND MOTION CONTROLS DRIVE SYSTEM
A complete control system was provided by CMC’s Automation Solutions Group. The new package features ABB AC8000 AC Vector Drives and AC Vector Motors. Historically, DC control dominated the steel processing industry; However, AC Vector technology has become more and more competitive.
The system incorporated a PLC for all 24 VDC and 115 VAC logic control. The line process speed control was managed in the Digital Drives. The Slitter Drive programmed the Slitter loop height and torque assist; and the Recoiler was configured for master linear calculations / deceleration and diamater calculation and compensation.
