Cleveland Motion Controls RoHS Status Announcement

As a manufacturer of electric motors and related circuitry, Cleveland Motion Controls is obligated to comply with European Union Directive 2002/95/EC for Restriction of Hazardous Substance (RoHS) for our products that fall under this directive. Since a large part of our business is either directly or indirectly targeted to the European market, we have chosen to standardize our products in accordance with this directive regardless of their ultimate destination. Here are the facts about RoHS and how they will affect both Cleveland Motion Controls and you going forward:

What is RoHS (Directive 2002/95/EC)?

The RoHS Directive (Restriction of Certain Hazardous Substances) became law in the European Union countries in February 2003. Member states must implement the law by August 2004 with product deadline for compliance by July 2006.

The purpose of the RoHS Directive is the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances and reduction of waste management problems linked to substances likely to pose risks to health and the environment. The RoHS Directive specifically addresses the reduction of use and ultimate banning of the following substances:

Cadmium
Hexavalent Chromium
Lead
Mercury
PBBs (Polybrominated biphenyls)
PBDEs (Polybrominated diphenyl ethers)

When Will Cleveland Motion Controls Be in Compliance?

Our target date for being fully compliant is June 30, 2006. At that point, we will supply a Certificate of Compliance at your request

What Will Change with Cleveland Motion Controls Products?

You will see no difference in the performance of our products supplied with RoHS compliant materials. All products produced in accordance with RoHS will retain the same part numbers, so you will not have to change your database. An identifying sticker will be affixed to our products indicating RoHS compliance for your reference.

What if I Want No Changes to the Products I Receive from Cleveland Motion Controls?

We realize that many of our customers will not want any change to their products. If you require no changes to the products we provide to you, you must let us know in writing by April 15, 2006. Indicate the specific Cleveland Motion Controls part numbers that you do not want changed. Please submit this request to:

Cleveland Motion Controls
Customer Service
7550 Hub Parkway
Cleveland, OH 44125

Or via Fax: 216-642-2199

Since most of our customers will require RoHS compliance, non-compliant product will become non-standard. Please be aware that this may result in increased production costs that we must pass on to you. We appreciate your continued business and your attention to this matter. If you have any further questions regarding RoHS compliance, please contact your local Cleveland Motion Controls Sales Representative or contact us at: sales@torquesystems.com
