This can occur if you are running Windows in safe mode, or if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance.” A similar problem and a resolution is documented in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;Q315353 The problem may be fixed by re registering the windows installer service by typing: msiexec.exe /unregister and msiexec.exe /regserver at the command line and rebooting. Access Rights ============= WorkBench v5 will be installed for use by *all* users on a given computer. However, because of the nature of the application it doesn't necessarily follow that all users will be able to effectively use WorkBench after it has been installed. WorkBench needs to be able to register COM components on the fly during it's operation (for example, when installing system files), and in order to be able to do this it needs read/write access to certain areas of the Windows Registry. Under Windows 2000 and XP Restricted Users (members of the 'Users' group) do not have sufficient access rights to register Windows Components, so we recommend that all users that use WorkBench v5 are (at least) Standard Users (members of the Power Users group). The following error is caused by trying to install WorkBench from a user account that has insufficient access rights to the Windows Registry: Error 1911. Could not register type library for file...
